In Italian the word "calmare" means calm/soothe. To bring a little more calm and relaxation into our everyday lives is our main mission.
Calmare Candles is located in the beautiful Blue Mountains, Australia. In keeping with our natural environment we specialise in hand pouring our candles from natural soy wax. We use a combination of essential oils and cosmetic grade fragrance oils which are handpicked by me for their quality and strength of aroma. We use our gorgeous surroundings as inspiration for many of our scents and feature Australia's National Floral Emblem, the wattle, on our packaging.
My love of cooking and science led me down the path to candle making. Producing a high quality candle is like following a recipe or method in an experiment. The wax needs to be melted to a specific temperature, the fragrance added at another temperature and stirred well. Pouring the wax is then carried out with care at another temperature to ensure consistency and smooth tops.
A beautifully hand-made candle from high quality ingredients shouldn't have to be a luxury or saved for special occasions. I personally love candles. There is nothing better than soaking in a bath with your favourite scent burning, or coming home from a busy day and lighting a candle. I love how something so simple can create such a sense of calm and relaxation. Candles also make the perfect gift. A great teachers present, Mothers Day, birthday or Christmas present. And best of all you can buy one for yourself for no reason at all.
